In need for a delicious and easy Korean dish? try Samgyeopsal

Super Junior has taken our attentions with their new comeback song which is very catchy and different than ever before. But enough about their Bonamana album, let’s talk about their favourite food, it is Samgyeopsal. The name comes from ‘Sam’ means three, ‘Gyeop’ means layered and ‘Sal’ means meat. It is actually pork belly with thickness of fat.

Samgyeopsal is very popular in Korea, because it is very cheap, tasty, easy to prepare and you can make your own Samgyeopsal trademark. As other Korean foods which always have unique way to eat it, Samgyeopsal usually serves with 2 different sauces, Ssamjang (spicy chili paste) and Gireumjang (salt and sesame oil). The first sauce usually rolled within the lettuce leaf or perilla leaves, then together with the meats and cooked rice, people can add any preferences ingredients like grilled mushrooms, kimchi, garlic, grilled onion and so on. This is why you can name after your own Samgyeopsal. The later sauce is used to enjoy the meat on its own or to make it more mouthwatering, a bit touch of black pepper will make it chin-cha massi-so-yo (really delicious).


Korean people love to serve and eat Samgyeopsal with their friends and families because like the saying “the more the merrier”. Just get ready the ingredients and put them on the table, invite your friends for dinner and there you go, a fun night eating in with a delicious dish. Feeling hungry? me too.
