[News] Top Korean Diet Promoter Conquers Japanese Bestseller List Once More

Girls, fancy the nice killer abs of your favourite Korean female stars? Good news! It is possible, you can have it too !

Korean Diet Promoter, Jung Da-yeon has published a new diet book last November which now stands at the top in Amazon Japan.

Jung, who launched the ''momjjang'' hot body fad in Korea, had published her first diet book in 2007 which now claimed number two after her second book. This is a feat that no Korean has ever done it before.

In the second title, she writes about the steps and methods she took in order to attain her now chiseled body. She also wrote a thought-provoking phrase that was the most highlighted in the book.

"Over the millions of years of human history, it was only 10,000 years ago that people began eating three square meals a day, Like animals living in the wild, we must eat often in order to stay slim."

She has recently just unveiled her second diet DVD and will soon begin on writing health articles and exercise tips for a health journal.

Jung who has made a name for herself by her expertise on physical training and exercise, was previously a housewife. In 2008, she made her first acting debut as a fitness instructor in the drama ''Aquarius''. She was approached personally by director Kim Soo-ryong to asked to be in his drama as Kim wanted to send useful health information through the drama series and with her fame, she was the only right person to do so.

Check out more about her in the video below.

If she can do it, so can everyone. Well, that goes the same for all the men !

[News] North Korea Players nowhere to be found?

UPDATE:

JOHANNESBURG (AFP) – Football's world governing body FIFA on Friday denied rumours that four North Korea players listed as no-shows for their World Cup match against Brazil have gone missing in South Africa.

FIFA said it had "no information" that the four players had gone missing, amid reports they may have tried to defect.

The official teamsheet for the North Koreans' 2-1 defeat to Brazil on Tuesday listed substitute goalkeeper Kim Myong-Won, An Chol-Hyok, Kim Kyong-Il and Pak Sung-Hyok as "absent".

"We have no information that the players may have disappeared," a FIFA spokesman said.

"Our liaison officer with North Korea hasn't signalled anything to us."

The North Korean team is expected to hold a press conference in Johannesburg at 5:00 pm (1500 GMT) on Friday, ahead of their next match against Portugal in Cape Town on Monday.

An official at the South Korean embassy in Johannesburg said it had not picked up any out-of-the-ordinary movements regarding the North Korean squad.

Media access to the players from one of the world's most reclusive nations has been extremely restricted since they arrived in South Africa to contest their first World Cup in 44 years.

In their only previous appearance at the finals, at the 1966 tournament in England, they created one of the biggest shocks in World Cup History by beating European giants Italy.

The World Cup is always a fascinating tournament as it constantly supplies moments of drama, genius and the absurd as FIFA have no idea of the whereabouts of four North Korean players.

Kim Myong, Kim Kyonh II, Na Chol and Pak Sung Hyok have literally disappeared as the four where nowhere to be found when North Korea took to the field in their Group G opener against the five-time champions Brazil.

A spokeperson from FIFA has admitted that they are also in the dark as to where the players could be because no one from North Korea has relayed the status of the players in question.

No comments or statements have been issued from the North Korea camp and the location of the four will remain a mystery until then.

This is weird. Korea known to have skillful soccer players, or shall i say at Koreans loved this sport very much. Being all hype every time SKorea battles with other country, where on this world these 4 players have been? Plus the fact that their whereabouts can't figure out. It's disappointing. Playing in a World Cup is such an honor. Being in the game is one country should be proud of. Qualifying in World Cup is not that easy.

Let's Learn Korean!: Lesson 9

Another lesson is here. I can't believe that we are on lesson 9 already. Are you guys having fun learning? I hope you all are.

In this lesson, I will teach some grammar. A lot of you asked me some grammar questions and here is my answer.

Grammar

  • To form simple questions, you change the 다(da) in the end of each statement to 까(kka).

  • Korean NOUNS have NO articles such as (a, an, the) and NO plural forms whether the noun is singular or plural is judges from the context or by a number of modifying the noun.

  • ADJECTIVES are usually placed in FRONT of nouns, as in English.

             자 (cha)  means Car
             좋은 자 (chaw-un-cha) meanㄴ A nice car.

  • Korean VERB forms DO NOT vary between singular and plural, but change depending on who you are talking to and their status.

              VERBS/LEVELS OF POLITENESS

  • Korean has various levels of politeness depending on who you are talking to, for example, when having a drink with a friend, you use a very different style to that. You would use when addressing a meeting or talking to somebody for th first time. The level of politeness is shown principally by the verb ending. Although, English has formal and informal style os speech, it does not have the same all-inclusinve Korean system of verb endings indicating degrees of politeness

               For example,

                          가(ka) means Go =} informal
감니다(kam-ni-da) means I go, he/she go, we go, they go [depending on the context. No need to specify who.] =} formal

therefore, you add ㅁ+니+다 to make it formal

안 (an) means no/not is added in front of the verb to indicate negation.

      WORD ORDER

  • In Korean the main verb always comes at the end if the sentence. So the sentence literelly reads as "to town am going."

  • The order of words in a Korean sentence is different from English. The basic rule is SUBJECT-OBJECT-VERB. Where as in English it is usually SUBJECT-VERB-OBJECT. Subordinate clauses, or additional information come last in the sentence.

     For example,
[English way] "My wife wore a new dress when she came home."
[Korean way] "My wife home came when (and) she wore a new dress."
